  • BWP Approves Wang Chung M2S
  • The Belgian Warmblood Studbook (BWP) has approved Morningside Stud's stallion Wang Chung M2S, a half brother to our Sakura Hill Ahsianita.
Wang Chung M2S is a 2003 KWPN Dutch Warmblood and was bred by Morningside Stud. His dam the Preferent and Prestatie mare Harnita is also the dam of our Ahsianita. Wang Chung M2S was sired by the international showjumping stallion Royal Bravour (Ramiro x Orthos) and is out of the ster, preferent, prestatie KWPN mare Harnita (Ahorn x Erdball xx). Harnita has produced three international showjumpers and the damline has produced seven approved stallions and eight international showjumpers. Wang Chung M2S was the 2008 CSI** Zwolle "Future Stallion" Champion with Dutch rider Eddie Brinkman. In 2009 German rider Felix Hassmann began competing Wang Chung M2S and the stallion was named Vice-Champion of the "Cycle Future Elite" in France after winning five international classes and placing fourth in another international class in CSI*** and CSI**** shows in France. Wang Chung M2S is also approved by the Anglo European Studbook, Irish Sport Horse Studbook, and the Warmblood Studbook of Ireland.

  • Room at the Inn
  • A windfall at Sakura Hill Farm, or room at the Inn……. We have been in the all-too-familiar quandary of having very talented young sport mares from impeccable bloodlines that should remain in training and competition but whose offspring we need to produce what we intend to produce- outstanding jumpers for sale. ET has always been an excellent option from the technical standpoint, but unattractive from other standpoints. I am a pedigree snob and strongly influenced by esthetics. Moreover, I doubt that the care we give our mares in the feed, feet, teeth and handling departments is replicated in any recipient herd, no matter how highly touted. The cost of doing even one- not to speak of more- ET a year with a leased mare always gave us pause. And I was reluctant to have on the farm mares that, on their own, would not have recommended themselves to me. Problem solved! We have acquired through a Florida rescue group four imported English, Irish and German TB broodmares that we will be using as recipient mares. Their pedigrees are unparalleled in this country, their provenance unquestionable and their reproductive health probable as there are one 6 yr. old,two 7 yr. olds and one 12 yr. old. We think that this is a win-win situation for all- our mares are thrilled, I am sure, to continue their privileged “in training and competition” status, the new arrivals can rejoice in finding a “forever” home where they will be treated like the blue bloods that they are, Makoto will be pleased that the bottom line is not quite as far bottom as it might have been, Monica can continue to have a group of talented jumpers to train and compete with minimal disruption, my senses of aesthetics and compassion have been preserved, and SOs can take pleasure in the fact that we will be breeding more well-bred jumper mares each year. Plus, I am going to enjoy putting these mares in the pink of health! So,in the Christmas spirit, Middleham Princess (Princess), Runaway Love(Janey), Belmopan (Penny) and her daughter Generous Belle (Belle), WELCOME! There IS room at the Inn! Special thanks to Sally of Cottage Farm for bringing this rescue to our attention. (Photos will follow when the mares' condition permits!)

  • News from Ahme P's Competition Partner
  • "She did have a lot of confidence going through, we probably only sent her through 4 total times and then stopped. And as you can tell, she is careful. That's Ahme though, I believe she is going to be the jumper that will do anything for the rider, really tries to please, which is a excellent thing. Everyone at the barn comments on her movement, she really is a stunner. As she has filled out the past few months she has really become the horse people just watch during training." We are eager to continue hearing of Ahme's progress as she advances through the jumping levels.
